Jane Giblin

Jane Giblin's pre-adolescent perception was filled with the sclerophyll landscapes and vast rural lifestyles of the northwest of Tasmania and country New South Wales. She learned how the pragmatism of survival develops into highly protected farming traditions. She loves how these traditions bind families working in adversity but appreciates that these practices are counter-intuitive in this land. The human animal and its associated domestications populate Jane’s imagery. Dust and scratching dirt, glaucous green leaves, which cream and redden through the year, and the rich smells of life and death move through her fetid ink and pigments, marked and soaked onto her paper.
