As Gallery Director, Janet Clayton plays a key role in developing strategy, management and marketing as well as in the selection and liaison with Gallery Artists
Janet’s commitment to the diversity of Australian cultural expression is reflected in her varied career – diplomat, cultural officer with the Australia Council working with the theatre, visual arts and music boards, and strategic and communications planner for organisations such as the ABC.
The decision to establish an art gallery in 2007 allowed her to pursue a lifelong dream to contribute materially to the viability of the arts sector and to communicate her passion for creative life. The gallery moved in 2011 to Danks St Waterloo, then in 2015 to Oxford Street Paddington. The physical gallery closed in June 2017, but Janet continues to support artists of the highest calibre through project work and exhibition opportunities.
Our artists, many of whom have developed their aesthetic and conceptual sensibilities over decades, are constantly challenging themselves and you. Our goal is to help you bring their outstanding work into your life. The gallery operated for more than 11 years: five years in Newtown, three years at Danks St in Waterloo and 3 years in Oxford St Paddington. The gallery now supports its artists online and through a range of projects
