As Gallery Director, Janet Clayton plays a key role in developing strategy, management and marketing as well as in the selection and liaison with Gallery Artists
Janet’s commitment to the diversity of Australian cultural expression is reflected in her varied career – diplomat, cultural officer with the Australia Council working with the theatre, visual arts and music boards, and strategic and communications planner for organisations such as the ABC.
The decision to establish an art gallery in 2007 allowed her to pursue a lifelong dream to contribute materially to the viability of the arts sector and to communicate her passion for the creative life.
Our artists, many of whom have developed their aesthetic and conceptual sensibilities over decades, are constantly challenging themselves and you. Our goal is to help you bring their outstanding work into your life. The gallery has been operating for more than nine years: five years in Newtown, three years at Danks St in Waterloo and now in the vibrant Oxford St precinct of Paddington. You are welcome to come and browse at any time. Our staff will be delighted to provide any information you require.
The gallery is keen to offer new experiences for both artists and clients. We are developing a number of projects which will see the work of our artists exhibited in other locations, and offer our clients some very special opportunities. Partnering with arts patron Durva Gandhi and arts writer John McDonald we will take a small group of clients to the Indian Art Fair and beyond.
